Sonya M. Braudway, OD was born and raised in Oklahoma and joined the Center for Retina and Macular Disease in 1994 specializing in Low Vision Rehabilitation. Dr. Braudway received her Bachelor of Science degree from Corpus Christi State University in Chemistry and graduated with high honors. She received her Doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Braudway was granted a Fellowship in Low Vision Rehabilitation at John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland and is a Board Certified Optometric Physician in Florida and Texas.

Dr. Braudway is recognized as a leader in her field and has received the Low Vision Excellence Award, the Pediatrics Excellence Award, the Florida Optometric Association

Outstanding Member Award, the Texas Optometric Association President’s Award, and the Gold Key International Leadership Award.

Dr. Braudway is an active Member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Division of Blind Services. Dr. Braudway also acts as a consultant and patient-care advisor and participates in numerous local organizations devoted to helping people with low vision impairment.

Dr. Braudway is happily married with one child and she and her husband are very active in the community and local charities. She is also an avid tennis player and travels extensively throughout the world.
