David
M. Misch, MD was born and raised in Wisconsin and founded
the Center for Retina and Macular Disease in January
of 1991.
Dr. Misch attend the University of Wisconsin from
1976 - 1979 and received Bachelor of Science degrees
in Chemistry and Mathematics completing both programs
in only 3 years. He received his Doctorate from the
Medical College of Wisconsin in 1983 and graduated
in the top 5% of his class. He was a member of the
Alpha-Omega-Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Misch completed his Ophthalmology Residency at
the Mayo Clinic in 1987 and was Chief Resident in
Arizona during 1986. He was granted a Medical Retina
Fellowship at the LSU-Lions Eye Center from 1987 -
1988 on their New Orleans Campus.
Dr. Misch went on to Retina and Vitreous Consultants
of Wisconsin in Milwaukee from 1988 - 1989 where he
was granted a Surgical Retina Fellowship. Following
completion of his fellowship he moved to Florida and
continued his career at the Florida Retina Institute
in Jacksonville from 1989 - 1991.
In January of 1991 Dr. Misch opened the first office
of the Center for Retina and Macular Disease in Winter
Haven, Florida. The second office opened in September
of 1991 in Lakeland, Florida followed by the Sebring,
Florida location in 1993 and the Clermont, Florida
location in 1996.
Dr. Misch is recognized as a leader in his field
and has been a Board Certified Ophthalmologist since
1988. He has lectured at the Midwest Ocular Angiography
Conference and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Misch is an active Member of the American Academy
of Ophthalmology, the Florida Society of Ophthalmology,
the American College of Physician Executives, and
the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Dr. Misch is very happily married with three children
and he and his wife are very active in numerous community
activities including their family’s church and
school and The Polk Educational Foundation. The Doctor
and his wife are well known for their philanthropic
activities supporting many worthy local charities.
