The Center for Retina and Macular Disease and the Macular Degeneration Association are sponsoring the “Low Vision Rehabilitation” Patient Educational Seminar on Thursday, March 29, 2012, from 8:30AM-12:00PM. Dr. Sonya Braudway, Optometrist and Low Vision Specialist, and Ms. Yolanda Cate, Occupational Therapist, both from the Center for Retina and Macular Disease, are the featured speakers. This program is designed specifically to educate visually impaired patients and their families.
Dr. Braudway and Ms. Cate will present a series of talks on the diagnosis, latest advances in research, low vision equipment and therapy options for low vision that will greatly improve a patient’s quality of life. The program will also serve as an excellent opportunity to share questions, concerns and ideas with patients and the speakers.
Along with the other topics, there will be a discussion about the Division of the Blind Services. There will be a hands-on demonstration of various low vision equipment at the end of the morning program.
The MDA Patient Educational Program will be held March 29 at the Highland Park Church of the Nazarene in Lakeland, Florida, at 4777 Lakeland Highlands Road. Registration will begin at 8:30AM and the program will be held from 9AM-12PM.
